Manitoba Liquor Marts: Crafting Memorable Moments

Mar 15, 2024

Manitoba Liquor Marts is an important sponsor of Manitoba Opera’s 2023/24 season, reflecting a joint dedication to enriching the cultural landscape of our province. Through sponsorship, the commitment to community support is driven by a clear mission: to enrich the lives of Manitobans by fostering economic, environmental, and social well-being throughout the province.

As a sponsor of Manitoba Opera since 2009, Manitoba Liquor Marts has underscored its dedication to supporting arts and culture in Manitoba, enhancing the experience through its Distinctions samplings and DrinkSense mocktails. As the Opening Night Dinner Wine Sponsor for the 2023/24 season, Manitoba Liquor Marts is ensuring an unforgettable evening for opera patrons by creating bespoke mocktails themed to the operas.

The DrinkSense program aligns with Manitoba Opera’s commitment of creating a welcoming atmosphere for all to enjoy. It empowers individuals to make informed choices and have positive experiences when choosing to drink.

As Manitoba Opera welcomed the community to the world premiere of Li Keur: Riel’s Heart of the North, Manitoba Liquor Marts also welcomed our Opening Night Dinner guests, elevating the evening with a new kind of sampling experience. To compliment the world premiere of this new Indigenous-led opera, Manitoba Liquor Marts sampled an icewine from Nk’Mip Cellars, the first Indigenous winery in Canada, alongside Manitoba Opera’s inaugural DrinkSense mocktail tasting.

Collaborating with the Li Keur: Riel’s Heart of the North Advisory Committee, a refreshing mocktail capturing the essence of the opera was crafted: The Saskatoon Spritz. With natural ingredients like blueberries, maple syrup, and Saskatoon jam, this alcohol-free option resonated with guests, providing an inclusive opportunity to enhance their enjoyment of the evening.

Our Carmen Opening Night Dinner guests can expect a deeply flavourful and passionate mocktail to complement the compelling narrative of Carmen, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

We are grateful to Manitoba Liquor Marts for not just supporting the arts but enriching our lives and our community with wonderful moments shared together.

Why I Donate: Dale Sulymka

“It inspires me to see great performances,” says Dale Sulymka. “You watch the crowd coming out after a Manitoba Opera performance and everyone’s happy. There’s a kind of buzz.”   Dale knows about the work that goes into making these moments happen. He’s retired now, but for seven years he was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Manitoba Opera, and before that he worked with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for 24 years.    “Being in arts administration for 30 years, I know the financial side can be challenging,” Dale states.  That’s why as Manitoba Opera’s CFO he advocated for an endowment campaign.
