Student Night at the Opera Dress Rehearsal Performances

Mozart at the Top of His Game

Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mistaken identities, parties, and ghostly powers combine with breathtaking music in one of the greatest works of opera.

In this interpretation of the timeless classic, the legendary “Don Juan” is a celebrated matador with a rock star persona. With an air of invincibility, the dashing, devilish seducer is constantly in search of a new conquest. But his incessant pursuit of women at any cost eventually earns him a dramatic punishment. Three of his female targets join forces to wreak vengeance on him. However in the end it is the supernatural that demands the Don’s repentance.

Rossini’s Show-Stopping Music Sparkles with Wit and Charm

Composed by Gioachino Rossini

It is one laugh after another in this crazy tale of close shaves, disguises, and hilarious antics. The scheming barber and jack-of-all-trades plots to help his friend the Count woo the lovely Rosina and enable her to escape the clutches of her lecherous old guardian, Dr. Bartolo. Does Figaro have enough tricks up his sleeve to outfox the old doctor, unite lovers, and save the day?

With lovable characters, catchy music, and pure joy and silliness throughout, it is no wonder this comedic gem still tops the charts in popularity!

Student Night at the Opera

Opera is so much more than just understanding the words sung. It is a total experience, from thinking about the production beforehand to actually participating as an audience member. My students just loved the performance and I will definitely take them again. Thank you for making the opera so accessible to our students.– Val Pierce, Grant Park High School
