Manitoba Opera welcomes applications for
The Next Stage Artist Program
You are a Next Stage Artist if:
- You are a post-secondary music student attending school in Winnipeg.
- You want to foster and encourage interest in opera for young people.
- You want to gain professional development from unique educational opportunities.
- You want to explore a career in the arts.
As a Next Stage Artist you will enrich our local opera-going community, inviting your peers to attend performances during our 2025/26 season with an exclusive student subscription offer, engaging with long-time opera donors and supporters, and sharing your love of opera with audience members prior to each performance.
You will also participate in workshops, attend MO performances, observe behind the scenes of an opera production company, perform at a Manitoba Opera event, attend MO rehearsals for upcoming productions, interview cast and staff members, network with industry professionals, and get a unique look at the administrative side of a professional arts organization. This is a paid opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry!
Note: You must be legally eligible to work in Canada to apply.
The application consists of:
- 1-2 paragraphs (250 words max.) outlining why you want to be a Next Stage Artist, and ideas you have to create an opera-going community at your school.
- An optional video of you performing. This does not have to be newly recorded or specific for this application. If you have a video, we would love to see it!
The Next Stage Artist Program will run for the duration of our 2025/26 season. Next Stage Artists must be available to attend evening performances and a daytime orientation session. Additional programming will be scheduled according to the availability of the Artists. Artists will commit to a minimum of 35 hours of program activities.
Past Next Stage Artists and Student Ambassadors are welcome to apply!
