50 Seasons of Opera

 

The evening will feature a selection of opera favourites and a tribute to the company’s very first performance!

 

Highlights from Verdi’s powerfully passionate, Il trovatore, will be presented – almost 50 years to the day of the company’s debut! (A concert version of Il trovatore was presented February 24 and 26, 1972)

The magnificent musical scores will be sure to draw you into this heart-stopping drama. One hit after another including the famous “Anvil Chorus.”

 

Featuring a stellar roster of internationally acclaimed artists along with the Manitoba Opera Chorus and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tyrone Paterson.

Introducing one of the most exciting mezzo-sopranos of her generation – Nadia Krasteva – who has performed with leading opera houses throughout Europe and the U.S. and will be performing for the first time in Canada with Manitoba Opera.
