Dr. Colette Simonot-Maiello, Assistant Professor of Musicology, Desautels Faculty of Music, University of Manitoba, explores composer Gioachino Rossini’s brilliance in the remarkable music of one of the world’s favourite operas, including how the expanding role of the orchestra captures the individuality of each unforgettable character in The Barber of Seville.
